Carp or Grouse?

A large Carp, do you complain? You may be thinking, what does carp and grouse have in common?  Well I am not talking about a fish in the water but a term.  I am not talking about a small bird but a term.  Both of the words have similarities.  Carp means to moan, grumble, find fault, grouse, nag, carry on, complain, Grouse means to gripe, object, protest, grumble or complain. When you look at the fish and the bird, You can be a small Carp or a really big Carp but the fact is you are still a Carp who likes to live in muddy waters and feed off the bottom of the lake.  You determine how big you want to be.  Grouse don’t fly very high, very fast and live most of their life on the ground in a limited area.  I used the carp and the grouse loosely since it was a term I thought befitting to the Scripture, not in any way down grading God’s creations. 🙂

So if we look at it this way upon the terms:  Do not complain, grumble, nag, find fault in others, pass judgement, belittle, laugh at, ridicule, express disapproval because if we do, people will do the same to us. So we shouldn’t be a Carp or a Grouse!

Today I read from Matthew 7 and Romans 8:.  I should not criticize, so I won’t criticize.  Others will treat you as you teat them.  How can we help each other if we criticize?

What does criticize mean?  Express disapproval of somebody or something or give considered opinion on something, and the synonyms are disapprove of, condemn, pass judgment on, complain, find fault in, belittle, laugh at, ridicule, or complain, moan, or grumble.

…because the way that you judge others will be the way that you will be judged, and you will be evaluated by the standard with which you evaluate others.

It is a never-ending circle.  So how do we break this circle?  We stop judging, complaining, finding fault in others, stop ridiculing or expressing our opinion on how we think things should be in that person’s life.  If we don’t, it will continue.  If we continue to talk about others, the judgement of the law says people will continue to talk about us.  You may be thinking, “Well I don’t care what others say about me”.  Although this is true, most of us want a good reputation.

Our lips must be governed by the law of kindness, as well as truth and justice. Christians are brethren…to break God’s commands, is to speak evil of others, and to judge them, as if they laid too great a self-control upon us. We have the law of God, which is a rule to all; let us not presume to set up our own notions and opinions as a rule to others but not ourselves and let us be careful that we be not condemned by our own mouth.

So with this said, Lord there should be only kindness and well as truth and justice come from my mouth.  To do otherwise is a sin and we are condemned by our own mouth.  Unprofessed sin will condemn and the un-renewed will is unable to keep any commandment fully. And the law, requires inward obedience.

By the Spirit the law of love is written upon the heart.

The favor of God, the welfare of the soul, the concerns of eternity, are the things of the Spirit in which believers seek and do.

Grouse Bird or grouse complainingWhich way do our thoughts move with most pleasure?

What are our plans and motives? Do we do things or say things that are wise for our soul or flesh?  Those who do so seek to pleasure themselves and are dead.  However a sanctified soul is living and that life is peace.  If we are living in peace or turmoil should speak for itself if we are truly speaking good or evil.  Love or carp and grouse.

The carnal mind is not only an enemy to God, but hostile itself with aggression or anger.

The carnal man may, by the power of Divine grace, be made subject to the law of God, but the carnal mind never can; that must be broken and driven out.

We may know our real state and character by inquiring whether we have the Spirit of God and Christ, or not.  We should not be in the flesh, but in the Spirit. Having the Spirit of Christ, means having a turn of mind in some degree like the mind that was in Christ Jesus, and is to be shown by a life and conversation suitable to his precepts and example.

So today Lord, I want to declare and teach me to watch what I say about others with the rule in mind, I will not talk about others in a way if they were sitting there with me, that I would do otherwise.  I don’t want to be a Carp or a Grouse!

Placid

This is the word God gave me this morning.  Many decisions and directions we face everyday, trying to understand this life we live in or trying to make sense of it all is not a simple task, it is hard.  Knowing identity, seeking truth and promoting Kingdom with Divine will is not always easy for it requires strength and perseverance.  It is taking a big step of faith and truly relying on the promises God has given you.  Naysayers, evil doers, backbiters and trouble makers are always present but through Jesus Christ and His mercy we learn to ignore them seeing them simply as gnats that buzz around the fruit.  Annoying yes, but present always, however all working to the good.

It is a product of this nature, this world we live in.  The animal world has the scavengers too, yet they go on with their daily life, aware yet unhindered by brushing away what they can.  Annoyed, yet not changed in their daily life, unmoved with their feet planted on solid ground.  There will always be pests yet there is always peace even during the presence of pests.

Placid is the word God gave me this morning.  I didn’t even know what the term meant until I looked it up.  It means peace.  (of a person or animal) Not easily upset or excited.

So if you woke up this morning feeling uneasy with life or the circumstances going crazy or hectic, be rest assured a supernatural peace is being released right now upon your life.  I feel it and it is confirmed with the Word.

The apostle prays for the Thessalonians. And let us desire the same blessings for ourselves and our friends. Peace with God. This peace is desired for them always, or in every thing. Peace by all means; in every way; that, as they enjoyed the means of grace, they might use all methods to secure peace. We need nothing more to make us safe and happy, nor can we desire any thing better for ourselves and our friends, than to have God’s gracious presence with us and them. No matter where we are, if God be with us; nor who is absent, if God be present. It is through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that we hope to have peace with God, and to enjoy the presence of God. This grace is all in all to make us happy; though we wish ever so much to others, there remains enough for ourselves.

The Lord of peace – Jesus Christ, who is called our peace, Ephesians 2:14; and The Prince of peace, Isaiah 9:6. May he give you peace, for he is the Fountain and Dispenser of it.

Always – Both in your own consciences, and among yourselves. By all means, methods, occasions, instruments, and occurrences; peace or prosperity in every form and shape, in every way, in every place, May God grant you prosperity always, and everywhere.

The Lord be with you all – This is agreeable to the promise of our Lord: Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world; Matthew 28:20. May the Lord, who has promised to be always with his true disciples, be with you! Christians are the temple of God, and the temple of God has the Divine presence in it. May you ever continue to be his Church, that the Lord God may dwell among you!

2 Thessalonians 3:16

New International Version (©1984)
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.

Murder She Wrote

Murder She Wrote - stop crimeEveryone remember the television show Murder She Wrote?  It usually was about a murder case in which need to be solved by a keen detective. In the show the police suspect the innocent person and the person who actually committed the crime is exposed by the star actor.

Murder we seem to take so easy as if it is nothing in some ways and in others to extreme.  It is time to be the detective and recognize crime.  It is time to check ourselves to make sure we are not the suspects.  There are several murders around us everyday.  It is in the form of gossip and slander.  A gossiper is a person who has privileged information about people and proceeds to reveal that information to those who have no business knowing it.  Gossip is often placed in with other sins in which we all teach about but never considered gossip as murder.  Gossip is idle talk or rumors.  It is usually about the personal or private affairs of others. gossip or slander is sin out of control - heart issue It forms one of the oldest and most common means of sharing unproven facts and views.  It also has a reputation for the introduction of errors and other variations into the information transmitted. Have you ever played the game of whispering a statement in the ear of someone sitting next to you and they in turn do the same?  By the time it reaches the last person in the room, it has changed into something in which people “thought” they heard or added to the story.  How does this relate to gossip or does it?

Gossip is distinguished from sharing information in two ways.
The first is intent. Gossipers often have the goal of building themselves up by making others look bad and exalting themselves as some kind of repositories of knowledge.
The second is the type of information shared. Gossipers speak of the faults and failings of others, or reveal potentially embarrassing or shameful details regarding the lives of others without their knowledge or approval in order to pull others down to their level.  Even if they mean no harm, it is still gossip.  There are several reasons why people commit this crime.  On a personal level it reverts back to self with pride, bitterness, hostility, anger, resentment, and low self-esteem.  It could also be just to be accepted by a group in peer influence.  It is a result of a heart issue and reveals the true nature of sin out of control.

gossip or slander is intent to murder or harm There are consequences to this type of murder. The reason people gossip or slander someone is to hurt.  They try to murder the reputation or even referred to as character assassination.  The one who is spoken against can receive hurt or pain, embarrassment, damage to their character or reputation.  It can be destructive and cause division.  If we take a closer look the rabbis in the Old Testament and the writers of the New Testament consider gossip or slander as murder.  True, words may not physically kill anyone but it is still murder.  Ruining a good name can have lasting effects for generations to come.

Gossip is part of the sinful nature in which everyone is born with yet it can be conquered through developing the love of Jesus Christ.  If you recognize this is part of your daily habits, it can be changed.  As a person seeks Jesus Christ and His nature to live for Him the results will be that of good fruit. To overcome our own passions, requires more steady management, than obtaining victory over an enemy.  Don’t be a guest star that commits the crime on Murder She Wrote but know who you are as a believer, be a crime stopper and be a star in the Lambs Book of Life.Believers produce good fruit

Prayer:  Father I pray your Spirit convicts us all every time we fall prey to our sinful nature when it comes to our conversation.  Help us to have your mercy and compassion along with patience in dealing with the sin of gossip or slander.  Let only good fruit proceed from my mouth; let my seeds be of sweetness.  In Jesus Name.
Amen.

Ephesians 4:29;31 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers… Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.

1 Peter 3:10;16 Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech…keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.

1 Peter 4:11 If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 16:28 A perverse man stirs up dissension, and a gossip separates close friends.
