Having Real Peace

Finding peace in God requires believing and trustingOur Christianity should be touching our lifestyle… Joyce Myers

Romans 5:1-5

WORD:  Now since we are made right in the sight of God by faith in his promises, we can have real peace.

PRAYER: Lord, teach us to know that peace is for all of us and I pray that we know that it is for us.  I believe the reason why we don’t have peace in our life is because we do not know that it is for us at all times.  We can have peace despite our circumstances we know to be true but living it out is hard for us to actually do while going through the trials or temptations because we get our eyes focused on the wrong things instead of you.  We say that we believe in your word, stand on your word, yet seeing people want to hurt you through their actions or words is very hard to take.  I don’t like it when the enemy uses people to cause division through justifying their actions in believing what they are doing is right and just.

WORD:  It is a place of faith to believe He has brought us into this place of highest privilege where we now stand and we confidently and joyfully look forward to actually becoming all that God has had in mind for us to be.  We can rejoice when we run into problems and trials for we know that they are good for us, they help us learn to be patient, patience develops strength of character in us and helps us trust god more each time we use it until finally our hope and faith are strong and steady.

PRAYER:  We must know who we are, and why we are called so God you must open our eyes and give us daily signs of who we are in Christ.  Our identity is so meaningful and important.  It is hard to understand why it takes years for us to understand who we are in you.  We must believe with confidence everything we go through is ordained by you Lord.  You are making us stronger and stronger, able to stand for the purpose of what you have called us to do and I am thankful for that.  I am gaining more understanding in what the Scripture says about counting it all joy, even the failures or the wrong turns we make.   I must trust you Lord that you are developing us to fulfill everything you have called us to do.  Help me to be persistent, consistent and stand despite of how people treat us, because in the end Lord you know our heart better than anyone else.  Let Your Holy Spirit fill our hearts to overflowing to endure what you have in store for our daily living.  I love you Jesus!

Blessings of Abraham

Blessings and Promises of AbrahamAs I was reading this morning I broke down and pondered on His Word and wrote out my prayer.  This is something I teach during counseling to apply the Word to our lives and making it personal.  This is a really easy way to bring it home.  Try it!

Romans 4:20-25

WORD: Abraham never doubted.

MY PRAYER: Lord help me not to doubt in your promises but to believe and stand in faith on your Word!

WORD: Abraham believed God, for his faith and trust grew ever stronger and he praised God for this blessing even before it happened.

MY PRAYER:  Lord, I will grow stronger in my faith by leaning on you, trusting in your guiding spirit and knowing, declaring your blessings before they happen!

WORD:  He was completely sure that God was well able to do anything he promised, and because of his faith, God forgave his sins and declared him not guilty.  Abraham was accepted and approved through his faith, but not just for himself but also for us too.

MY PRAYER: I believe you forgave upon my confession, all the sins I have ever committed past, present and future.  I believe in your promises God!  I stand on your Word as I leave a legacy for my children.

WORD: This blessing assures us that God will accept us in the same way he accepted Abraham, when we believe the promises of God who brought back Jesus from the dead, that He died for our sins and rose again to make us right with God filling us with God’s goodness.

MY PRAYER:  Lord, I thank you for accepting us just the way we are, good, bad, indifferent, lonely, sick, tired, angry, sinful, as the list goes on… you take us and clean us up!  It is through the power of your death, burial and resurrection you make us clean, pure and holy as we continue to serve you and walk in faith.

Learning From Romans

Learning from RomansAs I continue Romans 1: 6-18 today:  I loved the fact that wherever Paul went, he heard the church being talked about.  It’s funny to say, the city of Owensboro and surrounding area, PromiseLand Metro is being talked about.  I hope it is good and not just the gossip. Either way, it will be none effect to what God is going to do and is doing while we continue to share the gospel.   The good news is something to proclaim and I pray that Jeff and I will always be able to uphold the standards and withstand the pressures of the leadership you Lord have set before us.  Here are some things I learned from Paul as He wrote to his friends at Rome.

  1. Thanked God for people who told the good news
  2. He prayed for them.
  3. Prayed for the opportunity to be in fellowship with other believers
  4. Wanted to impart faith into believers to help the church grow strong
  5. Needed encouragement from other believers
  6. Be blessings to each other
  7. Wasn’t ashamed of the gospel
  8. Knows what true life and salvation is

What I can learn from RomeLord, I will always seek your direction and honor you for you Word, your guidance of your spirit.  You lead me to the part that we play in this world.  You have equipped us into your ministry.  I don’t want to always be about me, but others, so remind me to check myself on a regular basis, check my motives in what I do on a daily basis.  Do not let me slumber or drown out your voice with noises of busyness that I cannot hear your pulling or calling.  I thank you lord for giving and surrounding me with people who do you work for your Kingdom.  I pray strength and unity among the brothers and sisters and ways to fellowship to impart, to encourage and to be encouraged.  I thank you Lord you put others in my life in which I can minister to them and they to me.

It is funny how something that was written over 2000 years ago can impact a woman who sits here early in the morning, drinking her coffee and pondering on people of Rome.  I smile and know that God has everything under control. 🙂

Vision Starts in the Heart

heart of a visionThis past week we were in leadership training with a great friend.  Last night during service I spoke about what I had learned and thought it very interesting to share since the first of the year is fast approaching.

Value = Who you are, it is the “why” factor.

Vision = Where you want to be or become – looking into the future.

Mission = What you do everyday – be willing to change and improve daily.

Strategy = How are you going to do the why, when, where, how (setting goals)

Before we set all these into place, we must start with our heart.  Our heart must have passion about the new goal.  We must be excited about the change or it will never happen.  The Bible states that we must renew our mind daily.

Recently I lost weight, one year ago I decided with a made up mind, a determination in my heart to make a lifestyle change in my eating habits and exercising routine. I wanted to be skinny again. (vision)  First I started watching documentaries about food to train myself what junk I was eating that wasn’t good for me. (Value)  Next I chose a work out video I liked so I would do daily (mission) Then I enforced daily training upon myself to change and lose weight with eating right and exercising. (Strategy)

So whatever goals you want to set for yourself this upcoming year, if you have a plan and stick to it then you are on your way to a better you!  Oh and  one more thing, start with the end and work yourself backwards when setting a goal to see the big picture.  You can do it!

Just Walk

There is something about walking.  Once you get started it motivates you into doing more the next day and the next.  I know everyday the Lord prompts me to walk not only for health reasons but to exercise my body and rest with him in mind and spirit.  I usually listen to my Ipod and engage in worship, taking note of the creation that lies before me, feeling His breath blowing within me.  I hope that you too can feel what I feel by just taking a walk.  As babies our parents teach and encourage us to walk on our own, clapping and squealing with glee as we take our first steps.  Yes, there are times when we fall but we don’t stop or quit because set backs are only temporary, a lesson learned and then we stand again but this time hopefully smarter.

Walking is also spiritual and comparable.  Jesus tells us to walk in faith, walk in favor, walk in the light, walk in the Spirit, walk in the ways of the Lord,  walk in His paths, walk in truth, walk honest and walk humbly.  The list continues on and on throughout Scripture.  So the next time you think about taking a walk, just remember it is God’s word speaking to you compelling you to ‘just walk’ His way.

Prayer:  Lord I thank you for reminding me to walk daily for physical exercise but also for spiritual exercise.  I thank you for also helping me up when I am down and compelling me to walk again, you are such a great daddy!  I Love You…. Amen.

Deuteronomy 5:33  New American Standard Bible (©1995)
“You shall walk in all the way which the LORD your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you will possess.

7 Obstacles to Abundant Success

We all want to succeed in business, family and life but sometimes we just don’t know how to get there because of the things that stand in our way.  My husband and I are all about helping believers get to the next level in where they have set their goals, spiritual and in the natural.  I like to think we equip, empower and release people to fulfill their God-given purpose.

My husband taught one night on obstacles that stand in our way and I would like to share them with you.

1.  Unteachable Spirit

Many times if we are not successful in whatever we have set out to do it is because we are unwilling to be taught.  I have seen people think they know it all on a particular subject because of their history dealing with the subject although much truth may be known about a fact, there is always more to learn.  We should want people in our life to make us better at what we need, desire or make us excellent in what we already know.  It boils down to trust, faith and be willing for God to put people in your life to make you a better Christian, a better person and have a better life.

2.  Unpaid Vow

As an early believer many people ask God for a prayer to be answered in which in turn they promise to God to do something in return for the answered prayer.  When God answers however the vow or promise to God goes unkept.  If we make a promise to God then we should keep it.

3.  Unforgiving Offences

Forgiveness plays a very important factor in a believer’s life.  If there are things in the past that continues to cause a roadblock spiritually be sure to know it will eventually play an important factor not only in your health but also bleed over into your family.  We must love and forgive to reach the goal of success in business, in life and as a Christian.

4.  Unwise Associations

The old saying goes, “If you run with dogs, you will get fleas”.  Negative people and unrighteous living can only trodden down us spiritually and tempt us to sin plus taking ungodly counsel will eventually cause a backsliding state in which the bad fruit will manifest.  People with blood in their mouth or those who are ignorant to the word will gravitate to the ungodly to justify their actions.

5.  Unbridled Tongue

When we allow the Spirit of God to take over our life it also includes our body and tongue.  If we talk wrong there are consequences.  Words are sweet and words are poison.  Words can build up and words can kill.  The spirit and mind are affected by words.  What we hear, we think.  What we think, we feel.  What we feel, we do.  What we do becomes a habit, what becomes a habit becomes our life.  Our life becomes our destiny and it begins with words.  We can choose to justify our words with condemnation and judging or choose to lift up others.

6.  Unrecognized Gifts and Abilities

What we do not recognize we will not celebrate and what we don’t celebrate we lose.  We all have a distinction in a gifting, a purpose that God wants us to fulfill.  We should find out what gifts we have in order to make us a well-rounded Christian to be fulfilled and successful in whatever we chose to do.

7.  Uncommitted Heart

A person who has an uncommitted heart is those who are present focused, creating present emotions.  It is all about self and not focused on doing what God wants or giving out to others.  It is lack of study, prayer and not being Kingdom minded but religious trained in works instead of relationship.

Prayer:  Lord I pray that all these obstacles are removed from all of our lives so that we may be productive and successful in all that we do, say and live.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.

Titus 1:16 New Living Translation (©2007)
Such people claim they know God, but they deny him by the way they live. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.

Just Notes

Daily entry, November 2009

We have the choice to have what we want to eat.  If we continue to feed on the world we become hateful and negative and feel less of what God has called us to be.  We cannot understand the move of God if we allow ourselves to be swallowed up by today’s trials.  Wasting life if we continue, wishing or waiting things to change.  God does miracles but doesn’t finish quickly because it makes faith grow as we wait patiently.  It is the in-between times that determine our faith level.  God gives us all we need, faith to faith on the mountain top and courage in the valley.  God’s will is for us to multiply our talents.  Our purpose is to advance the kingdom and our lives here on earth.  To go to the highs we must go travel through the lows.  To live is to die to self.  To be safe with God we must be on the front line of battle being one with faith, not in the back of the crowd wishing to be brave.

Jesus has given authority to us and it is time to start using it!  Kingdom is at hand!  Heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons, enter into city and bless it.  If your are not received, go out and leave without regret or condemnation.  Do go and “semonize” to people pronouncing judgements of God to live by his word but instead learn to teach faith and love.  Living by faith is indescribable and should be just a part of life, easy.  Maybe not popular but God wants to show you off, portraying his love.  He gives us strength to overcome.  Just because we may be more flesh minded sometimes doesn’t mean God any less of a Savior who has everything under control.  We cannot be offended unless it offends God too.  If it offends God then we have something to be upset about but if doesn’t we must learn to get over it.  Do not let anything hold us captive to promote bitterness or unwillingness to forgive.  Love conquers all.  Use what God has given you and with the ability and the power we shall overcome!

Prayer:  Lord help us all to grow to be more like you.  In Jesus name.  Amen.

Matthew 10:1New International Version (©1984)
He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.
