She Caressed The Poop

Kenz can’t smell.  She lost her sense of smell when she had mono a couple of years ago.  The doctors told her that her smell could possibly come back and at times she can smell a hint of something but it has to be really overpowering.  It’s been funny several times because I will ask her to smell this or that and she just looks at me with that look.  A thousand times she has told me she can’t smell and laughs.  People have bought her perfume for Christmas or other occasions, she wears it not knowing if it smells good or not on her.

We have a little dog, Roxie.  She is a Shih tzu , and is in need to go to the groomers.  Kenz loves Roxie and Roxie has her moods.  Kenz always loves on Roxie picking her up and cuddling her, caressing her and snuggling face to face talking baby talk.  Last night we all got a good laugh.  Kenzie was doing her loving on Roxie when we told her that Roxie had rolled in something earlier in the day that smelled like poop.  It was crusty on her back and around her neck area.  Roxie goes outside a lot and is always getting something in her hair like pine sap along with leaves and pine needles, so Kenzie didn’t think too much about the sticky crusty stuff in her hair.  Kenzie had just been loving and caressing poop!  She can’t smell, so she didn’t know.  She hands Roxie to Spencer, in which he stated, “I don’t want her, she has poop on her back and she stinks!”

When Roxie comes in from outside, we all just wait on to see who is going to clean her up if she rolls in something.  Every morning she comes in with grass in her tail.  Uggh! I am too lazy to use a leash and she would just die if she didn’t have her freedom around our yard.  She is almost 9 years old and still brings us joy, even if it is rolling in poop for Kenzie to rub.  By the way, she goes to the groomers next week.

Many times in life, we lose our sense of smell not in the natural but in the spiritual.  We MUST put our trust in the Lord daily or we stand as idols who do nothing.  If we trust in our own strength and don’t rely in God, we have legs but cannot walk, a mouth that can’t speak, eyes that cannot see, ears that cannot hear and a nose that cannot smell. If we don’t give our lives each day totally to Jesus, we might just be caressing poop without even knowing it!

Psalm 115 New Living Translation

1Not to us, O Lord, not to us,

but to your name goes all the glory

for your unfailing love and faithfulness.

2Why let the nations say,

“Where is their God?”

3Our God is in the heavens,

and he does as he wishes.

4Their idols are merely things of silver and gold,

shaped by human hands.

5They have mouths but cannot speak,

and eyes but cannot see.

6They have ears but cannot hear,

and noses but cannot smell.

7They have hands but cannot feel,

and feet but cannot walk,

and throats but cannot make a sound.

8And those who make idols are just like them,

as are all who trust in them.

9O Israel, trust the Lord!

He is your helper and your shield.

10O priests, descendants of Aaron, trust the Lord!

He is your helper and your shield.

11All you who fear the Lord, trust the Lord!

He is your helper and your shield.

12The Lord remembers us and will bless us.

He will bless the people of Israel

and bless the priests, the descendants of Aaron.

13He will bless those who fear the Lord,

both great and lowly.

14May the Lord richly bless

both you and your children.

15May you be blessed by the Lord,

who made heaven and earth.

16The heavens belong to the Lord,

but he has given the earth to all humanity.

17The dead cannot sing praises to the Lord,

for they have gone into the silence of the grave.

18But we can praise the Lord

both now and forever!

Praise the Lord!

Matthew’s Commentary : The heathen gods are senseless things. They are the works of mens hands: the painter, the carver, the statuary, can put no life into them, therefore no sense. The psalmist hence shows the folly of the worshippers of idols.
