Have you ever tried to change someone’s mind on something. For instance when the boys were little, they usually wanted to wear that favorite shirt or pair of shoes and there was no way you could get them to change their mind once they set their heart on it. I have seen young children get cowboy boots and wear them with just about everything. Being stubborn isn’t just for young ones but often you will run into those that once they reach a certain age and the saying is “They are set in their ways”. A made up mind can be good and it can be bad.
Most mornings when I wake I have a Christian song playing in my head over and over. I once heard that when you do it means you have your mind on God or in constant prayer. However when I wake up worried about something or have my focus on something else I find myself stressed and tired throughout the day not even thinking about worship but daily tasks or those strongholds that bind me. I believe much has to do with spiritual warfare and a made up mind.
Our mind is our soul. Our soul belongs to God.
Once you realize that God is in control of the soul, or the mind then you realize how precious your time is every day. I don’t want to waste time in fear or worry or be anxious. I want to grow, to change and be an expression of my gifts and talents God has given me. I want my relationships go beyond just hi and bye. If you are dead in faith, bored of life or confused where you should go then you have allowed your mind to sleep to what God has required of you. It is as if your mind has turned to the natural and not to the spiritual man.
When your soul is awakened each day with God, you begin to inherit your true life, the one you were meant for. You leave the kingdom of fake surfaces, repetitive talk, and weary roles and slip deeper into the true adventure of who you are and who you are being called to become. The greatest friend of the soul is God, yet sometimes we are afraid of the unknown because it lies outside our vision and our control therefore faith has to step in and lead the way. Unfortunately, it sometimes takes suffering, sickness, grief, or loss to get a wake up call and pull us out of mundane living, routine or life without a song. So many times I see people need God but after they get God, they leave God as life consumes their time in work, play and seasons. The single most important gift you can give yourself today is the invitation to be with God and have your mind made up to give him 100%. It is then you wake with a song in your soul. It is then you can rise above all circumstances and face life’s seasons with faith. It is then the security we all desire comes from the source of the eternal and not just this world, this is when we wake with a song not only on our mind but in our heart.
