Maintaining Financial Security

My husband and I are teaching this upcoming Wednesday about finances and managing your money.  I have been working on the teaching series off and on for several weeks planning out the best way for people to grasp the concept and want to learn from it.  I have not always been good at managing money but as I get older I have learned with the help of my husband who has wisdom when dealing with the subject of finance.  He has been a financial advisor for over twenty years in the insurance business.

We have seen many couples struggle with the issue when it comes to money in fact most fights start with money, how to keep it, spend it and make it.  People get really upset when you talk about their money and they don’t always agree when it comes to learning to budget, spend or even give to the church.  I have figured out it is a learning process and many people are not taught how to manage money from an early age, in marriage etc,  so they continue in life living from paycheck to paycheck struggling, fighting among themselves and limit their blessing.

I usually relate to it in this way.  Priorities must be first in order and straight before every thing else will work out, period.  If I was to find a treasure in a field worth billions along with it a map to other treasures which I was supposed to give the map to everyone, what kind of person would I be if I kept it all to myself?  The principles in which we have found are true, they work and they are a map to success when it comes to dealing with finances.  However, as good as we can explain it or tell or show it, people will write it off, give excuses and not follow the steps to reaching financial security because of unwillingness to learn or change habits.

Here are some good books to have and learn from:

Managing your money with God as Your Partner, The Treasure Principle by Randy Acorn, How to get out of Debt and into Praise by Rev. James T. Meeks, and The Financial Peace Planner by Dave Ramsey.

All of these books are the easiest to learn from and are excellent resources however after reading them we must learn to apply them.  It all starts with changing our mind, renewing our mind, trusting in God and follow the steps.  You can order them off of Amazon.com for a good price or from your local bookstore.

Prayer:  Lord I pray that you will always lead us into wisdom with stewardship of what you have given us.   In Jesus Name.  Amen
