Abundant life, Love and Life of a Testimony

Barn Experience

We had such a great time in a barn yesterday.  PromiseLand had a worship service and picnic at Meyer’s Creek in Calhoun.  The day started with rain that would last throughout the day but the rain drew everyone together as a stronger bond.  At first I wasn’t looking forward to the messy and muddy environment but as I drove up and saw the crowd it was such a blessing.  Everyone was just being real, wearing their jeans and caps, goloshes  and t-shirts wading through the straw, mud and manure.  The 4-H building although used for horse riding, livestock shows and training was transferred into a dynamic church service.  I believe if it had been a sunny day, we would have had over 500 people.  The cooking team started out early in the morning prepping the food, setting up tables and cooking.  Everyone worked as a team without being boggled down or feeling overwhelmed by such an event that as leaders we wondered how it would turn out.

I felt so free in worship, in serving the family of Christians, walking in the rain my husband and I thought it was incredible.  Hungry people will walk in the rain not just to eat in the natural but the spiritual.  As we continue to stay focused and keep moving forward the work was all worth it and those who came were the ones who were truly blessed.  The family grows stronger through adversity but also through quality time even if it is in a barn.

Prayer:  Lord, I thank you for such a wonderful family in which you have allowed us to come together to worship you.  I thank you for blessing us in such a beautiful and special way, not only for special events but for everyday living.  In Jesus name.  Amen.

  1. Amen sister Phillips. Wasn’t that something special. Kinda reminded me of church when I was a child in Fordsville. No big production, just a bunch of people, wet, and hungry for the word of God.
