A Perfect Combination!

Have you realized that there are some things that go together and you can’t have one without the other?  For instance, I don’t have hot chocolate without marshmallows or beans without cornbread or yogurt without fruit.  There are tons of things in which I can think of and I am sure you have yours too.  Please feel free to share your list in my comment box!

Some things although can be used alone are not the same when mixed with another.  For instance, peanut butter is good alone but when you make a sandwich it is better if you add the jelly.  Although both are good when left alone, there is a special magic that happens with the combination.  Have you ever went to a Mexican Restaurant where they don’t give chips with the salsa?  I love the chips and usually feel stuffed after eating a small basket but they would not be so good alone without the salsa.  How many of us would just eat the salsa without the chips.  I am sure the bowl of salsa would just sit there until we got our order and then we would put the salsa on our food.  So the point I am trying to make is although alone is OK it is still not the same when you add a combination of excellence.

I want to view our relationship with God on this level.  You can go to church every Sunday and it is good.  How much better would it be if you added another service to it, or involvement throughout the week?  It is good to pray every day, but how much better would it be if you read your Bible along with prayer time?  It is good to believe in Jesus Christ but how much more so if you added and applied all of His teachings to your life?  It is good to give a complement to the cashier or bank teller but how much more so if you added a small gift such as a bookmark or small card to make her day.

When you mix commitment and compassion, love and miracles, signs and wonders with your life, there is quite an amazing result!  I know at the end of the day most of us are so exhausted from our busy lifestyle we didn’t plan those extra combinations.  So, my challenge to you today is to think about what you can add to your daily menu to make you more than just a normal Christian.  Although normal Christianity is good, you have the potential to be more powerful and used of God more than ever!  Go ahead and make your list right now and watch how you + God just “goes together”, and you can’t have one without the other.

Prayer:  Lord, I don’t ever want to take you out of my daily life, thought process and forget where you have brought me from.  You have brought and orchestrated so much in my life to bring me perfect combinations and I thank you for it all.  I pray that many people will fulfill your will in bringing Kingdom principles into their lives.  Let others see that all of us make a perfect combination!  In Jesus Name.  Amen.

Matthew 22:37,39 New International Version (©1984)
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
