I awoke this morning at 3:15 with an alarm blasting off upstairs. At first I lay there thinking why is the alarm going off and no one is waking up (even the dog stayed asleep). I tapped my husband on the arm to wake him. I don’t know how in the world he was sleeping through that annoying sound. He immediately jumps up and turns on all the lights and runs up the stairs to investigate. It was the smoke/fire alarm in the game room going non-stop. This particular alarm was right outside Jordan’s room in which he heard it but was waiting on us to come up and check it out. Spencer and Bryson lay in their beds asleep, unaware of all the commotion until we opened up their door to check their rooms. Jeff took the alarm down in conclusion it must be the battery life was completely depleted. We then went back to bed.
I lay there unable to sleep and wondered why the alarm would awake us in the middle of the night. Why not go off during the day or in the morning when we all are well awake. I prayed and was thinking about getting up and writing. I then said my thanksgiving prayers that it was only a false alarm. I think sometimes God allows false alarms to go off in our life to make us think and realize how blessed we truly are. He reminds us on how He will never leave us, nor forsake us and will always provide for us and keep us safe no matter what the circumstances. So for all the alarms that may go off when least expected, I will be thankful no matter what the time may be.
Prayer: Lord I don’t ever want to ever forget your greatness and how I should always be thankful for your blessings and your mercy.
