The dinner we had last night was a success in my book. Sure there were people who complained about the seating arrangements, the food or the lack of catering service however to me it was all first class in my book. If I sat there and thought about it long enough I could have complained about the potatoes in how they needed salt or pepper but then I thought about the children only getting rice and beans or how they would have gobbled up a meal like this. It made me think of our mothers telling us to eat all of our food because of the starving children in China. I also watched plates being carried away with the food still on it. In America, we are spoiled to the riches of choosing what we want to eat and to the spoils of fast food instead of the nutritious. We are not exposed to the hardships like many to really have an attitude of thankfulness. The entire evening wasn’t about pleasing ourselves with an elegant fine dining experience at $50 per person but it was about touching orphans and reaching out to other nations. This was a fundraiser banquet for Mercy29. This was the heart of the issue.
Jesus always wants us to be thankful and have an attitude of thanksgiving in all that we do or say. I was thankful to be part of a special event that is already changing lives and shaping a nation. Tommy Tenney spoke about sponsoring an orphan and how you never know the impact you may have on that particular life. He spoke about Esther. Esther was an orphan yet was taken care of my her Uncle who could have left her an orphan but chose to support her. By one sacrifice of his choosing to raise a young girl, he made a difference in her life. Little did he know that Esther would one day save a nation and be Queen. The sponsorship and the sacrifices we make to support an orphan child could turn out to be just like Esther. The child we give opportunity to a better life could be the next person to enhance the Kingdom and save many others. The ripple effect lives on! It is about leaving a legacy.
Prayer: Lord I want to have always a heart and attitude of thanksgiving. Let me look for the positive and Your goodness in all things in which I participate in, say or do. Let me always be an example of the heart of Jesus with love, kindness, peace and thankfulness. In Jesus Name. Amen.
Ephesians 5:20…always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Ephesians 5:4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.
