What does it mean to be wounded? Offended or injured it is still a wound. Nobody escapes being wounded. We all are wounded people, whether physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually and it is a part of life.
Many times we try and hide our wounds so we don’t have to be embarrassed or judged. When do our wounds cease to be a source of shame and become a source of healing for others? We decide and it is usually after we allow Jesus to come into our lives and cleanse us from the hurt. Sometimes the wounds are self-inflicted because of wrong decisions and yet there are times when people want to hurt you with words or deeds. It is still a wound and wounds hurt. Wounds leave scars and won’t completely disappear yet when we allow forgiveness there are no barriors to healing. The wound becomes a part of your past. Don’t continue to relive the past and bring up old wounds in digging in the sore spot or it will never heal. Use your wound, wounds are good.
The Word of God reveals Jesus was a healer. It was by his wounds we are healed. He set the example that by our wounds, we can also heal broken lives. Jesus’ suffering and death brought joy and life and complete healing. His humiliation brought glory and his rejection brought a community of love and support. As followers of Jesus we can also allow our wounds to bring healing to others. Think about your wounds you have had in a lifetime. There may be few and there may be many, however you decide if they are to heal and be a healing for others. Many times when we go through trials, we believe we are the only one who has experienced that particular situation. This is not so. The enemy wants us to hide are wounds, cover them up, disgracing us to not help others as they go through maybe the same thing we have in our past. If we confess our faults, become open to portray the love of Jesus Christ and allow forgiveness to sweep over our souls then we can make a difference in someone else. Many times I have used my own shortcomings, mistakes and wounds to help in encouraging another person. It is when we began to share is when we began to heal. It is when we accept forgiveness into our life, God begins to mend and sew up the wound. Will you be a surgeon in the Kingdom of God today and help mend a wound in a hurting person? Wounds are good if you allow them to help another.
Prayer: Lord, help me to notice others when they are hurting. Forgive me for hurting others by my actions or words. Open up my heart with compassion and let me not have fear or hide my failures or wounds. Let me use my wounds to help others mend. In Jesus Name. Amen
