I know what you are thinking. The truth to a person’s heart usually comes out through their mouth creating actions. First there is the thought, then comes the action, then comes the habit, which results in lifestyle and ultimately the destiny.
Faith, Fruit, Fulfill, Freedom, Flesh, Failure, Fall, they all begin with F and they all have something in common.
To have faith in Jesus Christ is working by love, the ultimate love that fulfilled the law. To fall under the law of the custom, culture or of the Old Testament or in the ways of man is to lose Jesus Christ because it is depending on works of law for salvation. In this way, love is limited because living law by flesh is without the fullness in faith or grace in Jesus Christ. Believing in the law is depending on the works of the law for righteousness and for salvation not in Jesus. However, true faith is a working grace and works by love to God in which we are no longer bound by law but have the freedom to bear fruit of the Spirit.
Works of flesh or fruits of the Spirit is a choice that either you work from one or the other and not both. Flesh that is depending on the works of the law of righteousness sets one up for a fall because no one can uphold all the laws. We want to pinpoint works of the flesh has adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lust, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, rivalry, jealously, outbursts of anger, quarrels, envy, murder, drunkenness, wild partying, and things like that, which people who do these things do not inherit the kingdom. We refuse to believe “flesh” is not included in those things of upholding the law because if you continue in the law, it is merely flesh working out salvation. This form of godliness is without power because it brings bondage, not freedom to the beholder and a judgmental attitude to those who don’t follow or hold on to works of the law, as they must do. It is a choice by the believer. If you base your salvation on your flesh in upholding laws, the fruit can be limited because law is bondage. When you base your salvation on faith in Jesus Christ and how He came to fulfill the law, no longer does one have to be held by the law because that law of fleshly outward rituals or customs was broken by Jesus Christ. It is through faith and not by works.
Can a person be truly happy following the law and living by faith in Jesus Christ? Either you follow the law with flesh or you follow Christ with faith. How do we hope to obtain happiness? We should live by faith in Jesus Christ, not by the works of the law or anything deserving, only by faith. When we rely upon only Jesus as the Lord of our holiness and righteousness the fruit will appear in its true form and not the works of man which only brings fall and failure. The gospel is freedom but the law is a covenant of bondage. We are not to cling to the law but to the freedom in Christ so we cannot be brought again under the yoke of the law. Follow Faith and Fruit, or choose Flesh or Fall? Which F word will you choose?
Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty – From the ceremonial law. Wherewith Christ hath made us – And all believers, free; and be not entangled again with the yoke of legal bondage.
