Shoo Fly Shoo

120px-muscudomesticaUpon sitting down and writing out my blog today, I glance over at the sink full of dishes, think about the several loads of laundry that needs to be done and look out the window and smile.  Finally a normal sunny day full of expectancy and another day in wondering what God is going to do.  I will get to my chores shortly but as for now I sit here, relaxing and meditating on the goodness of God.   I read several passages of Scripture when all of a sudden I hear this buzzing sound dive bombing my head, around my ear and circling my coffee cup.  The joys of warm weather brings out the disgusting fly which always seem to find their way into the house.  It is almost like they were created just to annoy us especially in our quite time, guest time or mealtime.  Do you even realize what a fly does when it lands on something or even think where it has been?  It grosses me out just to think about this little disgusting torture. Flies have often been used to represent agents of death and decay, such as the Biblical plagues, or portrayed as nuisances.  The maggot stage of a fly is even more sickening and repulsive. Houseflies can take in only liquid foods. They spit out saliva on solid foods to predigest it, and then suck it back in. They also regurgitate partly digested matter and pass it again to the abdomen.  In other words they puke on everything before they eat. Because of their high intake of food, they deposit feces constantly, one of the factors that makes the insect a dangerous carrier of pathogens. Although they are domestic flies, usually confined to the human habitations, they can fly for several miles from the breeding place. They are active only in daytime and rest at night at the corners of rooms, ceiling hangings, and on the white walls leaving trails of spots to clean. The average lifespan of an adult housefly is approximately 15 to 25 days.  Where is my fly swatter!  Now you are probably wondering why I am talking about flies.

Flies are just like the enemy in our lives.  He comes many times on a short-term life span when we are least expected.  He circles and starts his little annoying sound and tactics just to aggravate and all we do is shoo him away instead of getting the swatter and kill him.  The enemy wants to puke on everything we do that brings any glory to God and he loves to suck out any substance that gives him life. He goes on to reproduce bringing more intense works with his family and then leaves behind a mess to clean up.  If we continue to allow him to be a part of our household or even in our life, he will continue to breed bringing things that will kill, steal or destroy.

Have you found lately any flies in your life?  I see it so often people think a little sin doesn’t bring any harm; in fact they see it as being “cool”.  Is there someone in your life that constantly pukes up garbage on your spirit being negative or throwing up gossip, slander or backbiting issues?  Do you see how quickly a person can reproduce this spirit and make you feel trodden down and hopeless or angry?  Is there a person who greatly annoys you because of their unchristian actions?

Ephesians 4:23-32  Now your attitudes and thoughts must all be constantly changing for the better.  You must be a new and different person, holy and good.  Stop lying to each other, tell the truth for we are parts of each other and when we lie to each other we are hurting ourselves.  If you are angry, don’t sin by nursing your grudge.  Don’t let the sun go down with you still angry, get over it quickly so you won’t give the devil a foothold in your life.  If anyone is stealing he must stop it and being using hands for honest work so he can give to others in need.  Don’t use bad language; say only what is good and helpful to those you are talking to and what will give them a blessing.  Don’t cause the Holy Spirit sorrow by the way you live.  Stop being mean, bad tempered and angry.  Quarreling, harsh words and dislike of others should have no place in your lives.  Instead be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving just as God has forgiven you because you belong to Jesus Christ.

It is time to stop saying shoo fly shoo and go buy a fly swatter and kill the little irritant.  The enemy must be eradicated out of our lives in order to become what God wants us to be. flyswatter

  1. AWESOME! It goes hand in hand with my message Sunday of “Armed and Dangerous”. I’m NOT going to allow the negatives to dictate my life. I will prophecy even to those who don’t believe and try to discredit my destiny and future. KILL THAT PESKY LITTLE FLY!
