This week I got the priviledge to be the photographer at the AWCF World Congress. Many organizations come together with unity during this conference and I felt honored to meet so many interesting people plus see old friends. I was so excited to see people from all over the world lifting up their voice and hands in worship and in one accord. It was such a blessing to be part of a mighty move of God in the Spirit. People felt the freedom to express their love for Jesus in many forms. For some it was serene, for some it was joyful, for some it was a bursting of emotions and prayer, for some it was word and food for their soul. I saw tears, I saw shouting, clapping and lifting up hands. I saw people kneeling before God, crying and receiving from the Almighty. I saw dancing, running and leaping for joy. I saw a group of believers lay hands on each other and pray, moving in the Spirit with gifts and signs following. It was a great experience!
Some may call this extreme worship but I call it letting your soul dance away. God made us emotional creatures and He gives us the freedom to express our worship and praise. We not only honor (plus be thankful for what He has done) but also give Him worship for who He is.
King David expressed his worship by dancing in so much his clothes started falling off, now that was extreme. He gave his all without thinking about what others would say or would do. Not only did his dancing and worship break down tradition or the norm but also got the family a little upset because of his behavior. David’s words in which he leaves us proclaim this type of worship for even us today should follow.
When you dance before God without hesitation or reservation, He creates a different atmosphere of intimacy with you as He sweeps you off your feet. It is like a place of love and rest. We are creatures bowing to the Creator. It is a taste of heaven on earth walking into a realm not of this world. It is getting lost or caught up in the Spirit. He moves us in a place beyond where we are standing and pulls you above the cares of this world. If you have never experienced this type of worship, I encourage you to step out in faith and walk into a new door of faith. Yes, it may go against what you were taught or believe to be real however many people will come to a place or time in their life where the soul will desire this type of communion with Jesus. He wants to dance away with you and take you beyond this world into a place where your soul and spirit unites as one with Him.
Psalms Praise the Lord. Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in the firmament of His power. Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to His excellent greatness. Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet, psaltery and harp. Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; praise Him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise Him upon the loud cymbals; praise Him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord! Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord. Leap for joy! Clap your hands and shout with a voice of victory! Let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord. Let the whole earth be filled with His glory. Sing praise to God, sing praises; sing praises unto our King, sing praises. Thou has turned my mourning into dancing and gave me gladness.
Again I say…..”DANCE AWAY” and express your worship to the King of Kings!
