Can You Hear Me Now?

cce0d96de1684b26The wonderful invention of the cell phone, how could we have ever lived without it?  I feel like throwing it across the room when I have walked through the house, down the drive or up the road just to get a signal.  It makes me want to scream when it goes to three bars to one and then to none at all especially when I am standing in one spot.  Does that ever happen to anyone else?  I think it is trying to test my patience.  Although I shouldn’t complain, it is a commodity of technology and communication.  I think everyone I know has a cell phone.   However, as good as it gets, the connection of a cell phone has its own agenda.  It doesn’t matter if you are eight or eighty, rich or poor, what nationality, race, sex or religion, the cell phone connects when nothing hinders its signal path.  Unlike the mindless cell phone we also sometimes have a hinderance or an obstruction which limits progress to our connection with God.  Have you ever wondered why prayers seem to stop at the ceiling?  You wonder why timing is so important or if God even hears them due to a bad connection.  God, can you hear me now?  Many times it is just God’s timing.  His Word is true and He keeps His promises.  I am sure the prayers of my great grandmother are still being answered today even when she thought God couldn’t hear her.

What if your prayers are not being answered?  Is there anytime God refuses to hear?  Just as if someone is talking on a bad connection, you hear the voice but you can’t make out what they are saying or you just hear every other word.  It’s like you must get in position to not only talk (pray) but also hear on the receiving end.  It is much that way with God.  Yes, God does know all and hears all, but there will be times He may refuse to act.  Why?  Maybe we are out of range to receive what He has for us.  Sometimes we must check ourselves to see if there are things in our lives that God has asked to rid ourselves of.  Many factors can play a part.

Psalms 66:18  God will not listen if I had not confessed my sins.

Isaiah 59:2  But the trouble is that your sins have cut you off from God.  Because of sin he has turned his face away from you and will not listen anymore.

Causes of prayers unanswered?  Secret Sin, indifference, neglect of mercy, breaking the laws of God, Self-indulgence and pride, instability or double minded are to name a few.

So, the next time you see you haven’t got any answered prayers lately, check your connection with God.  Make sure your signal is all bars and there are no obstacles in your path that would hinder you from receiving.  Can you hear me now?
